This week’s blog just has to be read out loud, by the young at heart, to themselves, to other young at hearts and to the young themselves. You are never too old to enjoy a good rhyme.
TOMOTHY THOMAS
By Merelyn Carter
Tomothy Thomas, Tomothy Thomas
Who ever heard of Tomothy Thomas?
Tomothy Tim or Timothy Tom
But Tomothy Thomas
That’s got to be wrong
Right or wrong it’s hard to tell
‘Cause Tomothy Thomas fell down a HUGE well
And from that well a story he told
A story of stories for young and old
It starts at the start and
Ends at the end
And in between
There’s betweens and then
There’s a cat and a goat
In a long furry coat
There’s a boy and a bike
With a flag on a spike
There’s a train and a whistle
And a tall prickly thistle
There’s a hill and a well
What happens next? Can you tell?
The train was so fast
That as it zoomed past
It frightened the cat
Who flew like a bat
And landed on top of Tomothy’s hat
Tomothy squealed and fell off his bike
Right onto the thistle
Oh what a sight!
The thistle it prickled
And prickled and tickled
And to top it all off
The train gave a whistle
That frightened the goat
Right out of his coat
Then he stepped on the cat
Who scratched and spat
Tomothy yelled
And together they fell
Right down the hill
Oh what a spill!
They fell and tumbled,
Rumbled and fell
From the top of the hill
To the bottom of the well
The train kept going
But there they stayed
From the day of this story
‘till the story this day
There’s Tomothy Thomas,
The goat and the cat
The prickly thistle, the bike and a hat
It’s a tale of tales
But now that it’s through
Is it all true?
Well that’s up to you!
